HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN PERAWAT TENTANG TERAPI INFUS DENGAN KEJADIAN PLEBITIS DAN KENYAMANAN PASIEN DI RUANG RAWAT INAP DI RSUD INDRAMAYU

Abstract

The purpose of this correlational analytic study was to
determine the association between nurse’s knowledge of intravenous
therapy and the incidence of phlebitis and comfort of the patients. The
samples of the study were 65 nurses who work in inpatient wards and
65 patients who received intravenous therapy by nurses. Data analysis
using Chi-square showed that there is a significant association between
knowledge of nurses about intravenous therapy and incidence of phlebitis
(p<0.01), and there is a significant association between knowledge of
nurses and patients’ comfort (p < 0.01). It is recommended for nurses to
improve knowledge and skills so that the intravenous therapy
complications and discomfort can be prevented.
