Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between
a number of support givers and satisfaction in receiving support toward
the degree of depression in mothers who have mentally retarded children.
This study is an on-experimental analytic correlation with cross sectional
design. The sample of the study consisted of 31 mothers chosen with
purposive sampling technique. Research instruments used in this study
were Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Social Support
Questionnaire (SSQ). Data analysis used Pearson Product Moment.
There was no association between quantity of support givers and degree
of depression on the respondents. There was a significant negative
association between satisfaction in receiving social support and degree
of depression on the repondents.
