Abstract

The purpose of this quantitative with cross sectionalstudy is to explore factors affecting the mother’s breastfeedingtechnique in the district of Alang-alang Lebar Palembang in2012. Eghty five respondents were taken using purposivesampling technique. The data was analyzed using chi-squaretest, showed that mother’s age (p=0.018), maternal education(p=0.017), maternal’s occupation (p=0.037), type of labors(p=0.03) and maternal knowledge (p=0.039) had significantrelationship with breastfeeding technique. Multiple logisticregression test showed most decisive factors that significantlyaffected the technique of breastfeeding mother’s was the age(OR=7,108).Key words: age, education, occupation, type of labor,knowledge, breastfeeding techniques
