Abstract

This cross sectional study was aimed to analyze the
determinants of the behavior of patients in the prevention of
complications of diabetes mellitus (DM). Sample of 94 patients
with diabetes who are treated at the Clinic of Internal Medicine
Muhammadiyah Palembang Hospital, taken by purposive
sampling technique. Data analysis using chi square (bivariate)
and logistic regression (multivariate). The results showed that
there is relationship between age (p=0.024), education
(p=0.033), knowledge (p=0.035), attitude (p=0.039), and
family support (p=0.011) with the patient’s behavior. There is
no relationship between the sexes (p=0.762) and employment
(p=0.408) with the patient’s behavior. Multivariate analysis
showed support of families be a determining factor in the patient’s
