Abstract

The existence of the Green Open Space (RTH) is the only worthy urban tourist destination alternative. As the only public space with tourist attractions accessible to the general public, along with Alun-alun Taman Merdeka, Pangkalpinang City has the necessary resources to support community activities. But the COVID-19 pandemic generally hampers community activity outside Pangkalpinang City. The purpose of this study is to interpret the characteristics of visitors to the independent area park in Pangkalpinang City during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research uses quantitative methods where data is collected first using online forms (google forms) and then analyzed using quantitatively descriptive analysis. Visitor characteristics can be seen from a number of factors, including accessibility, satisfaction with needs, and judgment. The findings from this study show that, at the beginning of the week, people with accessibility on an environmental scale – which has a 300m radius of coverage of green open spaces – dominate among visitors to Alun-alun Taman Merdeka in Pangkalpinang City, while people with urban scale accessibility – with a 5000m radius on a green open area – do so on weekends. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Alun-alun Taman Merdeka, Pangkalpinang City, saw a 57% increase in visitors' traffic on weekends and early weekends. With the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the changes in the characteristics of visitors in the squares of the independent park, Pangkalpinang City.
