About the Journal
The Journal of Aisyiyah Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary scholarship on Progressive Womanhood and the transformative roles of women in shaping ethical, intellectual, social, and scientific development in contemporary society. The journal provides a global platform for rigorous theoretical, empirical, and methodological research that explores how women contribute to knowledge production, social reform, leadership, health, science, and technological innovation within diverse cultural and civilizational contexts.
Rooted in the intellectual and social legacy of progressive Muslim women’s movements, particularly the experiences and contributions of women-led initiatives in the Muslim world, the journal seeks to develop new analytical frameworks that connect faith, knowledge, justice, and social transformation. Rather than treating women merely as beneficiaries of development or subjects of policy, the journal foregrounds women as active agents of civilizational renewal, knowledge producers, ethical leaders, and institutional innovators.
The journal emphasizes the concept of Progressive Womanhood as a central analytical perspective. This concept refers to a dynamic and integrative vision of womanhood that combines spiritual consciousness, intellectual engagement, social responsibility, scientific literacy, and transformative leadership. Through this perspective, the journal aims to contribute to global scholarly conversations in gender studies, Islamic studies, social movement studies, public health, science and technology studies, and sustainability studies.
The Journal of Aisyiyah Studies welcomes high-quality research articles, theoretical papers, and critical reviews that expand academic understanding of women’s intellectual traditions, leadership, social movements, health and care ethics, scientific participation, technological transformation, economic empowerment, ecological justice, and aging societies. The journal particularly encourages contributions that provide conceptual innovation, comparative perspectives, and interdisciplinary dialogue across regions and scholarly traditions.
